NKOTBSB RECAP

warning: i’m about to fangirl the heck out, so get ready. and these are not my pictures, just ones found on the internet.

i’ve been a HUGE fan of backstreet boys since i was five years old, so getting to see them live is always surreal for me. i’ve loved new kids for almost as long after being introduced to them by my sister. my love of these two bands defined my first love for music, so getting to see them play together on the same stage was almost too much.

there is something truly wonderful about seeing artists who impacted the world in such huge ways. the crowd was filled with 20-30 something year old women who were screaming, dancing, and crying like we were kids again. boy bands have such a powerful effect on girls, its unreal. but when the lights went down and the screen introduced each member one by one, i could feel the electricity in the room and everyone (including myself) erupted into screams. and lemme tell you, i will scream by butt off for some backstreet.

these guys are well into their 30s and 40s but man, have they still got it going on. they ran around the stage and sang like it was 1999 again. they all still have so much passion for their fans and their music, and i have such respect for that. each one of them knows how to make girls scream and i LOVE that.

i love those 9 guys so much (even though i wish it was 10, miss you kevin bb). i was able to relive my childhood in two and a half hours and i loved every minute of it.

now for the highlights (no apologies):

  • the curtain falling down and NKOTBSB performing a mash up of “The Call” and “Single”
  • screaming the words to EVERY SINGLE SONG
  • SUMMERTIME. I like this part, too, Donnie.
  • both bands alternating songs and disappearing and then reappearing on opposite raised platforms
  • DONNIE WAHLBERG RIPPING HIS SHIRT OFF. i have an unhealthy obsession with this man.
  • THE CALL. omg, the call.
  • "all you people can’t you see, can’t you see NKOTBSB!"
  • nick carter and brian littrell looking sexy as eff
  • THE RIGHT STUFF DANCE. leg swings, get me every time.
  • so. much. pelvic. thrusting. i. can’t. take. it.
  • BSB picking “georgia peaches” from the crowd and singing to them
  • hanging tough. oh, i’m tough enough.
  • everyone being so sexual in their older age
  • show me the meaning of being lonely, I WANT IT THAT WAY
  • JONATHAN KNIGHT LOOKING SOOOO GOOD. WHY ARE THE BEST ONES ALWAYS GAY?! UNFFFF
  • each band taking turns to introduce their match in the other band. Donnie+AJ, Nick+Jordan and Jonathan, Brian+Joey, and Howie+Danny
  • so much choreographed goodness.
  • TONIGHT! nktob coming into the crowd.
  • BSB coming from the nosebleeds down to the stage
  • grown women (and men) acting a fool
  • my mom singing and waving at everyone
  • BACKSTREET’S BACK, ALRIGHT
  • yes, nick carter, you are so sexual.
  • NKOTB in their celtics jerseys and BSB rocking ATL
  • brian bringing his son out to wave to the crowd, ughhh
  • still dreaming of marrying brian, donnie, or jonathan

overall, last night was perfect. definitely one of the best concerts of my life, if not ever (tied with katy). i just want to go back and relive the whole thing. i’m currently plotting on traveling to greensboro for the tour. i SO wish i could use my ticket and go to NYC.

About:

I'm Whitney, a 21 year old senior at UGA majoring in recreation and leisure studies. It may sound lazy, but planning people's dream days is all I hope to do. Repping the Durrty South. This blog is my running diary filled with all things Whitney. I love Jesus, Simba, my gays, tattoos, New Kids On The Block, and everything in between. I'm a redneck at heart though you would never guess it. I'm a hopeless romantic who finally found her dream man.
